At North Forsyth High School, we believe that before and after school activities are an important part of the high school experience. Research shows that students who become involved in extracurricular activities are likely to be more successful in school.

Academic Team sponsored by Anthony Negus
The JV and Varsity Academic Teams compete against other high schools in jeopardy-style competitions. The Academic teams have won the state competition three years in a row and competed in New Orleans and Washington DC in national competitions. The teams practice once a week for an hour and compete on Mondays in the fall.
Animation Club sponsored by Jim Hill
The Animation Club provides time for like-minded students interested in animation to spend time together working on “outside of class” projects that can be entered in to festivals and competitions. It allows time for students who can’t fit animation classes into their schedule to get exposure to how the animation process works. The club allows time for students to have conversations about animated movies, shows, and productions and to share in each other’s interests.

NFHS Band Program is an extensive program offering various band opportunities for students.
Raider Marching Band is the band program's premier competition and community relations ensemble. Membership is open to all 9-12 grade woodwind, brass, and percussion students in a band class, and students interested in being part of the Fall Guard. The Raider Marching Band is for students who wish to further develop both their own instrumental skill and that of an ensemble member while performing for thousands of appreciative fans each week. The marching band performs a variety of music such as Rock, Jazz, Classical, and more during their show performances, pep rallies, in the stands at football games, and at community events. Members will be required to attend all football games, competitions, and other scheduled performances. A required marching band camp is held in late July prior to school starting. All students in the band program are expected to participate in this ensemble.
Concert Band is open to all students who are interested in instrumental music study and performance. Concert Band is the first of three performance level ensembles offered at NFHS. Class activities emphasize the development of instrument technique, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music reading, and listening skills. In addition to the music education students will receive, involvement in this course will acquaint students with many of the life skills including personal relations, problem solving, and working as a team to produce a product. Students are required and graded on their participation in all Concert Band rehearsals and concerts, and they are expected to participate in the Raider Marching Band.
Symphonic Band (audition only) is open to all students who are interested in instrumental music study and performance, and an audition is required for membership. Symphonic Band is the second of three performance level ensembles offered at NFHS. Class activities emphasize the development of instrument technique, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music reading, and listening skills. In addition to the music education students will receive, involvement in this course will acquaint students with many of the life skills including personal relations, problem solving, and working as a team to produce a product. Students are required and graded on their participation in all Symphonic Band rehearsals and concerts, and they are expected to participate in the Raider Marching Band.
Wind Ensemble (audition only) is open to all students who are interested in instrumental music study and performance and an audition is required for membership. The Wind Ensemble the school's elite instrumental performance ensemble. Class activities emphasize the development of instrument technique, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music reading, and listening skills. In addition to the music education students will receive, involvement in this course will acquaint students with many of the life skills including personal relations, problem solving, and working as a team to produce a product. Students are required and graded on their participation in all Wind Ensemble rehearsals and concerts, and they are expected to participate in the Raider Marching Band.
Jazz Band is open to all 9-12 students who wish to participate in an ensemble that focuses on jazz styles, performance, and study. An audition may be required by the director. Jazz Band is an extra-curricular and meets outside of the regular school day and rehearses about once a week starting in January for performances in the Spring.
Indoor Drumline is an award-winning extra-curricularpercussion ensemble offered to music students at NFHS. Indoor drumline is a continuation of the fundamental skills and performance concepts started each year in the marching band. This ensemble rehearsals two to three times per week from about December through March. Auditions are required for membership, and members must attend all rehearsals and performances scheduled for the ensemble. Along with numerous awards and championships in the past, the Indoor Drumline was the SAPA Scholastic A Champions for 2014.
Winter Guard is an award-winning extra-curricular auxiliary ensemble offered to students at NFHS interested in all aspects of flag and auxiliary weapon technique. Beta Club sponsored by Melissa Combs
The purpose of the Beta Team is to honor academic achievement, extracurricular, and community involvement. Beta club supports many community organizations with fundraisers and service hours. Beta Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
Biology Olympiad Club sponsored by Stephen Nelson
As the premiere biology competition for high school students in the United States, the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) enriches the life science education of nearly 10,000 talented students annually. It provides the motivation, curricular resources, and skills training to take them beyond their classroom experience to the level of international competitiveness. After two rounds of challenging exams, twenty Finalists are invited to a residential training program where they learn advanced biological concepts and exacting lab skills at the USABO National Finals. Ultimately, four students earn the right as Team USA to represent the USA at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), a worldwide competition involving student teams from over sixty countries.
Carpe Diem Yearbook sponsored by Amy Henke
The Carpe Diem Yearbook staff creates and produces the NFHS Yearbook each year. This is a co-curricular class containing multiple grade levels- students may join the staff at any grade level. Participation in the yearbook program earns students a Fine Arts pathway seal on completion of the third year of participation. Student members are also initiated into the Quill and Scroll society their sophomore year and receive an honor cord for graduation. The Carpe Diem Yearbook staff designs, creates and markets the NFHS yearbook under the guidance of Amy Henke. The yearbook staff is a class that meets daily during 4th period and requires additional time commitments outside the class period.
Carpe Librum Book Club sponsored by Jessica Younghouse and Vicki Sanders
Carpe Libre Club's purpose is to encourage and celebrate reading for pleasure. Club members, led by their elected officers, will select works to read individually and discuss as a group. These book discussions will be held off-campus approximately one evening a month and will be supervised and facilitated by the two club sponsors.
NFHS Choir - Tri-M Music Honor Society sponsored by Gene Seese
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for middle/junior high and high school students. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership. Through more than 5,500 chartered chapters, Tri-M has helped thousands of young people provide years of service through music in schools throughout the world. Tri-M is a program of the National Association for Music Education.

- Raider Chorale/Rising Stars - The Raider Chorale (intermediate mixed choir) is a non-auditioned chorus comprised of young men & women from all grades and musical ability levels. This group performs a wide variety of repertoire on a minimum of 2 concerts per year. Members of this ensemble also have the opportunity to audition for district & all state honor choruses, participate in solo & ensemble festival and travel on our annual spring competition trip. The musical theatre component of this class (Rising Stars) prepares a production for our annual Children’s Showcase. This group is open to anyone in grade 9-12 regardless of musical ability. Students taking this class receive 2 elective credits for both choir & drama.
- Intermediate Women’s Chorus/Class Act - The Intermediate Women’s Chorus is a semi-auditioned chorus comprised of young women from all grades and musical ability levels. This group performs a wide variety of repertoire on a minimum of 2 concerts per year. Members of this ensemble also have the opportunity to audition for district & all state honor choruses, participate in solo & ensemble festival and travel on our annual spring competition trip. The musical theatre component of this class (Class Act) prepares a production for our annual Children’s Showcase. This group is open to anyone in grade 9-12 by application. Students taking this class receive 2 elective credits for both choir & drama.
- Cantamus – Cantamus (Advanced Women’s Chorus) is the top treble ensemble at NFHS. It is an audition only ensemble for outstanding choral musicians in grades 10-12, with limited openings for exceptional freshmen. This ensemble performs rigorous 3 & 4 part repertoire for women’s voices. The Advanced Women’s Chorale perform 4-5 concerts annually and consistently receives Superior ratings at regional and national competitions. Members of this ensemble also have the opportunity to audition for district & all state honor choruses, participate in solo & ensemble festival and travel on our annual competition trip. Auditions for this ensemble are held in February each year.
- Chamber Singers - The Chamber Singers (Advanced Mixed Chorus) are the top mixed ensemble at NFHS. It is an audition only ensemble for outstanding choral musicians in grades 10-12, with limited openings for exceptional freshmen. The Chamber Singers perform some of the most difficult mixed repertoire available to high school ensembles. They perform 4-5 concerts annually and consistently receives Superior ratings at regional and national competitions. Members of the Chamber Singers also have the opportunity to audition for district & all state honor choruses, participate in solo & ensemble festival and travel on our annual competition trip. Auditions for this ensemble are held in February each year.

- a Capella Club - One of the newest ensembles at NFHS is the a Cappella Club. This is a non-auditioned group open to any student on campus, no music class required! Students meet every Wednesday morning from 7:45-8:15 and perform a variety of contemporary a cappella pieces from jazz standards to current pop hits.
- Raider Men - The Raider Men made their premiere last spring at LGPE, receiving straight Superiors. They also took top honors as Outstanding Overall Choir at competition! This is a non-auditioned group open to all men on campus, no music class or audition required! Students meet every Wednesday during the 2nd IF transition.
Civitan Club sponsored by Amy Leggett and Cindy Carr
Civitan International is an association of communityservice clubs founded in 1917. The organization aims "to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities." The organization includes 40,000 members (referred to as Civitans) in almost 1,000 clubs around the world.
Debate Club sponsored by Marissa Martin
The NFHS Debate Team competes in debates throughout the year. The debate team will participate in debate competitions and will meet weekly to prepare for debate competitions.
DECA sponsored by Lisa Cline and Lisa Harrell
NFHS DECA expands and educates the members about the marketing process and encourages them to participate in leadership and professional activities that benefit the students, school and ccommunity DECA participates in regional, state and national competitions; fall leadership confernces; fundraisers; and other community service activities. DECA meets once a month on Thursday mornings for Chapter meetings. Competitors will meet weekly prior to competitions.

Drama Tech Club sponsored by Addison Walden
The NFHS Drama Tech Club's purpose is to aid the drama program in all their technical theater endeavors. The Drama Tech Club hopes to develop a core of student technicians for backstage work at NFHS events and to further educate students on all of the elements of tech theater giving them opportunities for hands on learning. Any student interested in working on theatre support projects (scenery construction, props, set painting, lighting, sound, costume, makeup, etc) is invited to join Drama Tech Club. The Drama Tech Club will meet on Mondays from 4 -6pm in the PAC.

The purpose of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is to encourage and promote Christian fellowship among the students at NFHS. FCA meets weekly at NFHS.

FLOOD exists to cultivate servant hearts in students. FLOOD provides local mission opportunities for students to saturate their communities with hearts and hands of Christ. ForTech is an apprenticeship program that allows A+ certified students to serve as technicians and perform warranty work on computers during the school day. This is a co-curricular program.

The NFHS Friendship Club's purpose is to help the neuro-divergent learner develop friendships and experience events within the high school and community. The Friendship Club will provide exposure and experience to social events within the high school and community. The Friendship Club will attend sporting events, plays, and visit local resources to encourage friends to participate in their community.

Our mission as the North Forsyth Gay Straight Alliance is to build bridges between communities and the general public. We aim to have a group of students at North Forsyth with a strong bond to one another, where people can be friends in spite of their differences.

GRITS's purpose is to provide a safe and positive environment to girls of every grade level in the school to worship, talk, study the Bible & volunteer in the community. Weekly themes for Bible study will be selected, prepared and presented by students.

HOSA is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA's goal is to encourage all health occupations instructors and students to join and be actively involved.

One unique way of doing that is by offering 46 different competitive events that are curriculum based. The goal of the program is to promote student leadership, understanding of healthcare and involvement in community service activities.

The Improvisation Club will reinforce acting, presentation and oratory skills. The goal is to help students improve speech, projection and oratory skills and help improve overall confidence. The Improvisation Club meets 7:45 – 8:15 every Tuesday and Thursday in the PAC.
Interact Club sponsored by Kerry Carter, Christine Jackson, and Ranita Christopher
The Interact Club partners with the Roatary Club to build community awareness through local and international service and social projects. Interact Club will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7:45 am.
International Club sponsored by Rocio Fernandez and Marisel Espina
The purpose of the International Club is to promote a supportive and friendly environment that welcomes all students regardless of race, ethnicity, and or nationality. Students will gain a better understanding as we seek to motivate young people to be better citizens by promoting campus diversity, celebrating different cultures and languages, and participating in local community service. The International Club will collaborate with Forsyth Central High School and West Forsyth High School International Clubs in planning several soccer games and community service events. The International Club will meet the first and third Wednesday of each month.
International Thespian Society sponsored by Addison Walden
The International Thespian Society is an international organization which honors secondary school students for outstanding work in theatre. Activities include participation in the annual state thespian conference,thespian scholarships, community projects.
Key Club sponsored by Shannon Floody
The NFHS Key Club is a community service organization that works in conjunction with the local Kiwanis Club. Students participate in a variety of school related and community projects. Past projects in which our students have participated in include the following: Volunteering at our local elementary schools, working with seniors at assisted living centers, ABBA House, coordinated our school book drive, participated in the Forsyth County coat drive and Blessings in a Backpack and several other activities. We are expanding our service each year. All students are eligible to participate. This is a student-led organization, and activities can be added or deleted at the desires of the students. We hope that you will consider becoming a part of a club that gives back to our community and school.

The Latin Club provides a forum for the enrichment of student understanding and the appreciation of the Latin language and Roman culture. This will be achieved through participation in National Junior Classical League activities.

The NFHS Literary Team is an academic team that competes in region and state literary competitions.
Math Team sponsored by Theresa Adams
The North Forsyth Math Team is a prelude to the Math Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta. Students from grades 9-12 can participate in Math Team. We compete monthly in Georgia Math League, and we participate in the High School Math Competitions at UGA in October and Ga Tech in February. Students interested in being a part of the Math Team should try to attend as many of the monthly meetings as possible, although attendance is not mandatory.

The NFHS Mock Trial is an academic team that competes in the courtroom in regional and state competitions.
Mu Alpha Theta sponsored by Amanda Swafford
Mu Alpha Theta is a National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. The purpose of this organization is to promote scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of mathematics among high school (or two-year college) students. Mu Alpha Theta students will participate in tutoring during IF, mornings and afternoons, tutoring at the middle school, and possibly establishing a math tournament for our feeder middle schools. Mu Alpha Theta will hold monthly meetings with enriching mathematics discussions/activities and participation in other math tournaments is a possibility.
National Art Honor Society/Art Studio Club sponsored by Amy Henke & Deanna Boyanton
The National Art Honor Society and Art Studio Club are environments for students interested in visual arts to gather together and create work, assist with school exhibitions, and participate in service projects for our community and North Synergy team schools. Last year, we created painted greeting cards to mail out to over 90 senior citizens in our community, assisted with art activities at the CMES art show, created work for the Van’s Custom Culture shoe design project, participated in the NFHS homecoming parade, etc. National Art Honor Society is a service based group that recognizes 10th-12th grade students who have excelled in their artistic pursuits. Members work to earn hours towards their membership requirements and eventual graduation with a NAHS honors cord. Art Studio Club members may also participate in our projects but may be 9th graders or students who are not currently enrolled in a visual arts course but are committed to attending meetings and participating in our service projects. National English Honors Society sponsored by Gail Richardson
The National English Honor Society recognizes the academic accomplishments of American’s high school students and promotes their continuing interest in the English language arts. Membership is by invitation and requires an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 with a 4.0 in on-level English classes and/or a 3.5 in Honors/AP English classes. Students are eligible for membership after the completion of their freshman year. NEHS members engage in two service projects during the school year, both involving promotion of literature in some way.

The NHS is a service-based organization that recognizes outstanding high school students, who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.8 and demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Members are invited to the join the National Honor Society, and there is an Induction ceremony for new members. The NHS meets monthly. The NHS participates in fundraisers for local charities, teacher appreciation breakfast, Northside Hospital holiday helpers, entertainment evenings for local, needy families, individual, service projects.

The Spanish National Honor Society, also known as the SHH (Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica), is a national academic honor society focused on teaching high school students about the Spanish language and culture. The Honor Society typically meets once a month and has many extra-curricular activities. It is affiliated with the national organization, and its members may participate in the national convention, trips, scholarship opportunities, and scholarly publications. To be inducted as a member of the Spanish National Honor Society, a student must have a minimum cumulative average of 3.0, A's and B's in Spanish classes, and be enrolled in a Spanish class at or above Spanish 4. To remain a member in good standing, a student must meet the NHS attendance, service, and tutoring requirements.

NTHS provides recognition for outstanding student achievement in career & technical education. It encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence, and helps top students find success in today's highly competitive workplace.

Participants choose the prom theme and develop the ideas for the decorations, invitations, posters, food, and more. The committee meets once or twice per month beginning in September. Members are required to attend all meetings and assist with set up the morning of prom. Members must apply to be part of the committee. Spots are limited.

The Raider Chess Club provides an opportunity to learn the game of chess, develop chess strategies, and compete at varying levels. The Raider Chess Club meets weekly after school, but meeting times may evolve along with the club members’ needs.

The NFHS Color Guard operates under the supervision of the JROTC and Major Kelly. The Color Guard presents the National Colors at appropriate school and community functions and participates in competitions. Color guard will practice one day a week from 4-5 pm. The Color Guard begins the second week of school and continues throught the end of April.

The NFHS Drill Team operates under the JROTC and the supervision of Master Gunnery Sergeant Merritt. The Drill Team performs at appropriate school and community functions and participates in competitions. Drill Team will practice Monday through Friday from 4 - 6:15 pm starting the second week of school and continuing through mid-March.

The NFHS Raider Team operates under MCJROTC and the supervision of Gunny Snook. The Raider Team is a military style physical fitness team which competes against other JROTC schools. Raider Teams are designed for cadets who have a good combination of upper body strength and endurance. Teams consist of an all male team, an all female team, and a mix team. Teams that do well can compete at the state level and national level.

The NFHS Rifle Team is a select group of MCJROTC members that operate under MCJROTC and supervison of Major Kelly. The Rifle Team practices and competes in marksmanship competitions throughout the school year.

Rhythm N Sole Dance Club meets about twice a month. Some meetings will be informational, and at some we will stretch, dance and teach each other combinations. All dancers are welcome to attend. We encourage members to see each other perform in recitals and dance concerts in the area, and also plan to go on group outings to professional dance performances.

Last year we conducted 6 science nights at elementary schools around the County and we will be expanding to more this year! Science Olympiad is offered to students of all ages interested in competing in science competitions with other schools. Students select events to compete in that vary from knowledge events to building events. This club meets once a month during the school year, and competes anywhere from 1-3 times during the year.

Simply Charity's purpose is to provide students the opportunity to experience and promote charity to fight global poverty from a Biblical perspective by creatively educating the population of NFHS. Simple Charity has an overall goal to raise $100,000 for charity throughout the school year.
